Innovation Networks of Cork, Resins and Edibles in the Mediterranean basin (INCREDIBLE)
The project addresses the gap between existing research and innovation knowledge on service systems for NWFPs in the Mediterranean. In particular, INCREDIBLE links knowledge and fosters collaboration among different groups of stakeholders, developing innovative business models and enhancing expertise in rural regions to develop inclusive economic strategies.
INCREDIBLE also targets the public / wider society with the message that forests, managed sustainably by the inhabitants of rural areas, are a great source of wealth that provides us with cork, resins, aromatic and medicinal plants, and edible products such as wild nuts and berries or mushrooms and truffles. Socio-economic activity in our forests also contributes to wildfire fire prevention.
To achieve this, INCREDIBLE is developing Innovation Networks (iNets) around five different groups of Mediterranean NWFPs: cork; resins; mushrooms & truffles; nuts & berries; aromatic & medicinal plants. This iNets will collect knowledge and best practices and we will identify success cases to replicate and will learn from past errors, across the Mediterranean.
INCREDIBLE brings together universities, research centres and professional organisations (owners & managers), coordinated by the European Forest Institute. Thirteen entities from eight countries will contribute knowledge and expertise on various aspects related to NWFPs.
‘Innovation Networks of Cork, Resins and Edibles in the Mediterranean basin’ (INCREDIBLE) project receives funding from the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 programme under grant agreement Nº 774632.
