The Brazilian Forest Service (SFB) has the mission of promoting knowledge, sustainable use and expansion of forest cover, making the forest agenda strategic for the country’s economy.
The SFB is headed by a Board of Directors, composed of a managing director and four directors. It also has a legal advisory and an Ombudsman. The establishment plan will be constituted by means of a public tender or redistribution of employees of organs or entities of the direct, local or foundational federal administration.
Its resources come from the National Treasury; concession contracts and application of contractual penalties; sale of publications, technical material, data and information; agreements or agreements with public entities, bodies or companies, or contracts with private companies; and donations, legacies, grants, and other resources.
